I have deleted a lame analogy from something I posted the other day. I should have remembered an ancient piece of wisdom, “All analogies are lame”.
I thought that was actually a named “law”, like Murphy’s Law, or Sturgeon’s Law. But I can’t find those exact words attributed to anyone. I found plenty of examples of lame analogies, and lots of advice to avoid analogies, but apparently my original source for the rule is lost. Even so, it’s a good rule and I’ll keep it in mind.
