My First Post

Date: []

Having been inspired by the Indieweb movement, I’m finally adding a blog to my website. I hear all the voices in my head telling me why I shouldn’t do this: I don’t have anything to say, I don’t write well enough, I’ll just sound pretentious and foolish, no one will be interested in anything I have to say. But there is no harm in trying, right?

My introduction: I’m retired from a career in computer operations and security, and now pursue my other interests. I’ve worked for very small and very large companies and I always enjoyed my work.

Before going into the technology field, I studied art, and now I’m trying to revive old creative skills. I’m learning digital art tools like Affinity and Procreate. I recently began learning pixel art, because I’ve always loved the style. For the last few years I’ve been learning to juggle, because it’s fun and I think it’s quite a good workout for the brain.

So I’ll blog about all those topics, plus whatever else I can think of. I'm still learning Grav, the CMS running this site, and figuring out formatting and styling, so I expect the site's appearance to continue to evolve.

Finally, a thank you to Mike Sass and his Shellsharks, and Sophie Koonin and her Localghost. I don’t know them, but their blogs gave me the push to decide to give this a try, and pointed me to many more resources on the Indieweb.
